Best of Both Worlds by Liz Andrews

*Pow Pow* It's An Anal Alien Invasion!

2.75 stars

Chase and Alex are best buds and roommates. Bros before Hoes. Ride 'til they die. Bromance while sippin' on Gin and juice like Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre in a hooptie.

Chase is bisexual but in the closet about it. He's also in love with Alex. The story starts with Chase going to a gay club for the first time where he hooks up with a hottie and brings him home (Stranger danger, Chase! Stranger danger!). At the tail end of Chase's first blow job from a guy, Alex walks in.

*Dun dun duuuuuunnnnn*

Surprise Alex, Chase is bi!

Once Alex finds out that Chase is bisexual, he discovers that he's turned on by Chase sexually. Alex also has deeper feelings for Chase that go way beyond friendship.
Best of Both Worlds is basically the story of how Alex deals with his feelings for Chase and how they settle into this new phase of their relationship.

There was nothing I hated about the story but there is also nothing that I liked. Where this story is concerned, I'm indifferent. I never felt invested in Chase and Alex's friendship or budding romance. The sex scenes were ruined for me by the strange phrasing that was used throughout.

Calling a finger a "digital invader" or a "questing digit" during a sex scene is just not sexy. It pulled me out of the story and made me laugh when I probably wasn't supposed to be laughing. I felt like I was reading about some weird video game from the late eighties where aliens invade unsuspecting asses.

There was also this:
"Tell me, how do you need me, what do you want?"
"I want you to fuck this virgin ass."

Seriously, all it's missing is seventies porn music and shag carpeting.

All in all, this offering from Liz Andrews just didn't do it for me. I struggled to finish it because it fell flat. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this one.

  1. I saw the blurb on this one and thought about getting it. Don't think I will now. Really not into "alien invaders".

Thanks for the review. You have such a way with words. You never fail to crack me up, whether it's for a good review or for one you didn't like :)

I was excited for this book but it sucks that it didn't live up to its super hot cover.
